PermSelect - MedArray Issued Key New Patent

MedArray, Inc. was issued a key new patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent relates to the company's proprietary siloxane formulations which are optimized for gas exchange when configured as hollow fibers. The company uses patented forming processes to create self-supporting silicone (PDMS) hollow fibers more efficiently than conventional silicone fiber spinning processes. These hollow fibers are then packaged in membrane modules to provide customers effective means for transferring gases and vapors in and out of various fluids.
CEO, Patrick Montoya remarked “This new patent is enormously momentous to the company because it enables a significant improvement in the performance of our siloxane based hollow fibers by providing an optimized combination of mechanical and permeability properties. These formulations will ultimately result in more efficient and compact gas exchange devices. Our current patent catalog is helping position the company to become the leading provider of wide-ranging gas transfer solutions with accessible membrane technology.”
Silicone permeable membranes separate gases and vapors based on permeability differences—not on pore size—allowing them to perform challenging separations from mixed gases to gases dissolved in liquids. PermSelect® membrane modules are used for degassing liquids, gas separations, and pervaporation in applications such as air humidification and dehumidification, oxygen enrichment, nitrogen enrichment, methane purification, CO2 capture, VOC removal and recovery, membrane distillation of water, and pervaporation of alcohols.
